Item # 210795 ·
THE SAG HARBOR EXPRESS, Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York, Feb. 23, 1871 An uncommon title from this once-famous whaling town near the eastern end of Long Island, now more famous as a playground for the rich & famous who frequent the neighboring Hamptons. The ftpg. has a small, comical bit: "A gentleman having a pony that started & broke his wife's neck, a neighbor told him that he wished to purchase it for his wife to ride upon. 'No', says the other, 'I will not sell the little fellow because I intend to marry again." Pg. 2 has a short item on the discovery of oil in Sag Harbor. Other news of the day & a wealth of ads. Never bound nor trimmed, bit of browning to the front page, folio size, quite nice.
