GLEASON'S PICTORIAL DRAWING-ROOM COMPANION, Boston MA, September 13,
1851. This 16 page newspaper is one of the few illustrated newspapers
of that time. The famed Harper's Weekly didn't start until 1857. The
woodcuts in these issues give the public a sense of what was going on
around America at the time. This particular issue has the following

Side, the residence of Washington Irving - Scene Representing the Late
Tornado at Medford, Mass. - Encampment of Foot Guards at the Glass
Palace (Hyde Park, London) - Bishop's Patent Floating Derrick - View of
the Navy Yard, Brooklyn, N.Y. - United States Line of Battle Ship,
North Carolina - United States Naval Lyceum, Brooklyn, N.Y. - Camp
Meeting at Eastham, Mass. (church revival) - Scene from Conrado de
Beltran - South Mines, Jamestown, California (gold mining) - Chief
Justice Shaw - Steamship City of Manchester and more. There is text as
well along with these prints. Nice condition.
