Nice half page "Inaugurating the Glorious Fourth" shows boys playing with fireworks. A quarter-page illustration is of "Dr. W. F. Carver, the Celebrated Marksman". Nice full page "The Great Social Event at Blackville--The Wedding of the Twins" showing a wedding in a Black community. Full page Thomas Nast political cartoon entitled "Moral of the Russo-Turkish War" with insert of text by Aesop's Fables.
Nice full page "Regatta On Peoria Lake" includes 7 scenes. 3/4 page illustration "Attempted Assassination of the Emperor of Germany by Dr. Nobiling" which also includes a small inset of Dr. Nobiling. Other Thomas Nast political cartoons are within the issue.
