HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, October 10, 1868 The front page of this issue features a three-quarter page illustration entitled "The Water Drinkers in Spain". A full page features a halfpage "The South American Earthquakes - Wreck of the 'Wateree'" and "Yacht Race for Vice-Commodore Bennett's Prizes, September 22, 1868".  A one-third page "The Paraguayan War - View of a Bombarded Church as Found by the Allies July 25" is comprised of two illustrations. A fullpage Thomas Nast political cartoon shows a black man sitting atop a monument to black depredations, with three dead blacks at the base of it entitled "Patience on a Monument". Nearly halfpage 'Examining & Swearing Naturalized Citizens' and 'Securing Certificates of Naturalization in the Clerk's Office, City Hall' also has a small associated article. One-third page 'Attack of Indians on a Bull Train Near Sheridan, Kansas' with a smaller: 'Match for the Billiard Championship at Chicago, Illinois'. A nearly fullpage illustration "The Luther Monument at Worms, Germany" also has an accompanying article. The back page features a Thomas Nast cartoon "A Respectable Screen Covers a Multitude of Thieves". The article, Water Street, has mention of the infamous John Allen's dance house.
Complete in sixteen pages, in good condition, and contains additional prints and related text.
