The famed '48 Tucker car is introduced...
Item # 712714
June 19, 1947
THE DETROIT NEWS, June 19, 1947
* 1948 sedan "Torpedo"
* First introduced w/ photo
* Preston Tucker
The top of page 51 has a three column photo of the much-hyped and revolutionary automobile produced by Preston Tucker with heading: "Tucker Torpedo--A Newcomer in the Auto World" The same page has an article headed: "Tucker Has Long Way to Go to Build 1,000 Cars a Day" (see images)
Note: Only 51 were ever produced.
I suspect this to be a very rare item because there was really no reason to save it at the time.
Great to have this report in a newspaper from "motor city" even though the car was produced in Chicago. In 1988 a movie was made about Preston Tucker and his car titled "Tucker: The Man & His Dream".
Complete with all 60 pages, rag edition in nice condition.
