LOS ANGELES TIMES, April 11, 2002

* Re: The Shenandoah National Park Killings in 1996
* The Lollie Winans & Julie Williams murder case
* Darrell David Rice Indicted

Page A14 has: "Inmate Indicted in Hate-Crime Deaths", with subheading: "Prosecutors say man, jailed in Virginia in an unrelated assault case, targeted two female hikers in 1996 because he believed they were gay", followed by details of the incident. Individual photos of both victims and Rice are included. See images for details.
Background: Two hikers were killed while hiking in the Shenandoah National Park not far from the Skyline Drive and the Appalachian Trail in 1996. Although many years later there were suspects (Richard Marc Evonitz and Darrell David Rice among them), no one was ever convicted in the double-murder case. These were just two in a series of murders in and around the area during a two-decade period along the Route 29 corridor in Virginia.

Note: DNA evidence eventually exonerated Rice, and Evonitz committed suicide after a long, cross-country high-speed chase - before an interrogation could be conducted or a confession made.
Other news of the day, sports, and advertising are also included. The Sports section tells of a tribute held by the Los Angles Lakers in honor of the roots: The Minneapolis Lakers.

The issue in very good condition and appears to be complete in multiple sections, however, it is being offered for the described content.
