NEW YORK TIMES, April 4, 1948  The top of the front page has a three column photo headed: "The President Signing The Foreign Aid Bill" Also a one column heading: "AID BILL IS SIGNED BY TRUMAN AS REPLY TO FOES OF LIBERTY" with subheads.
On the day prior President Truman signed the Economic Recovery Act of 1948. It became known as the Marshall Plan, named for Secretary of State George Marshall, who in 1947 proposed that the United States provide economic assistance to restore the economic infrastructure of postwar Europe.
Complete first section with all 64 pages, this is the "rag edition" printed on very high quality newsprint meant for institutional holdings. Great condition.
