THE NORWALK EXPERIMENT, Huron County, Ohio, Oct. 27, 1857

* Mormon gang attacks traveler (?)
* Brigham Young mentioned
* Great fire in Chicago

Page 2 has: "The Mormons", which is an article describing a letter from a W. P. Landon who tells of being attacked by a gang of Mormons in Salt Lake City, which necessitated his fleeing to Placerville, California, leaving his wife and child behind. The letter also mentioned him being confronted by an Indian Porter who was hired by Brigham Young to gather horses and carbines, but who spared his life. The article makes for interesting reading, but one wonders if it is a bit exaggerated.
Additional articles on page 2 include: "Kansas - The Constitutional Convention""Chase, if Elected, is Elected by Negro Votes" (for the record, he did win), "Great Fire in Chicago" (which was the largest fire in the city to-date), and more.
Other news of the day is found throughout.
Four pages, left spine shows evidence of having been disbound, in overall good condition.
