January 01, 2000
DAILY MAIL, London, January 1, 2000 Yes, that date is correct. This is a futurist newspaper. We've handled a few, but they are exceedingly scarce. It was actually printed in 1928, but all of the news reports and the vast majority of the advertisements are based on their 1928 perception of what life in 2000 would be like.
What is most intriguing is that this future date perception is already in our distant past, so it is intriguing to see what people in 1928 thought life would be like 72 years later. In general, their hopes would prove disappointing to any of the readers who might have lived until 2000.
We tried to photo some of the more interesting items but this is a 24 page newspaper with a huge wealth of fascinating reports and ads, far too many to show here.
A great opportunity for a fascinating and quite rare newspaper.
Complete in 24 pages, tabloid size, wear to the front page with archival strengthening to the blank spine, an archival repair to a small piece lacking at the bottom of the first leaf, minor margin wear.
