THE PENNSYLVANIA GAZETTE, Philadelphia, June 9, 1768 This was the newspaper made famous by Ben Franklin, as he was the published (and his name appeared in the imprint) through 1765. The masthead features a very detailed engraving of the then Pennsylvania coat-of-arms.
Page 3 has an address to John Dickinson mentioning in part: "While your seasonable appearance & spirited vindication of the Liberties of the Colonies demand the grateful acknowledgments of British America..." with much more. This is followed by his brief response.
Page 2 has a report from Charleston concerning the death of an Indian sachem, and noting: "...The Upper Cherokee towns are greatly harassed by several parties of Indians from the Ohio and Mississippi, who kill every body they meet with, whether White Men or Indians..." with more on this. Then an item from Boston noting the: "...list of Counsellors chosen yesterday..." includes John Hancock among others.
Four pages and in great condition. A fine example of a famous colonial newspaper.
