THE DAILY SOUTHERN GUARDIAN, Columbia, South Carolina, Nov. 29, 1864  A rather rare title and great that it includes the word “Southern”.
The front page is mostly taken up with ads & military notices but there is a lengthy account headed: Sherman's March" which offers much detail on his historic march to the sea. This was of critical to the citizens of Columbia, as Feb. 17, 1865 would be when Sherman would capture the city.
Of equal significance is the lengthy back page address of the governor of South Carolina to his House and Senate, in which he addresses the grave concerns with the advance of the Union army into South Carolina including the fall of Atlanta & more.
Complete as a single sheet issue with very wide, untrimmed margins. A very small library stamp above the masthead, one discrete mend at the middle, nice condition.
