THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, March 24, 1787 The bottom of the back page has a report noting "...from North America, which mention that several Indian Chiefs who had assembled for the purpose of holding a council, hostile to the United States, had been surprised & put to death by a party of the American army. The celebrated Joseph Brendt...and another chief escaped the massacre by being absent on a hunting party."
