A terrific issue on the construction of the White House, as page 3 has three detailed progress reports on its construction, each signed in type by the architect of the White House, James Hoban.
Great reading, with some accounts noting work as such: "Report of James Hoban, superintendent of the president's house...The balustrade and chimneys have been finished...the slating has been finished...The mahogany doors of the President's house are all finished. Stone remaining on hand, 400 feet of wrought ashlar intended for area walls, 240 tons of free stone in a quarried state..." and so much more.
It's likely this report--which we've not seen before in a period newspaper--might only have appeared in a newspaper close to Washington, D.C.
