NEW YORK TIMES, Jan. 14, 1933

* Augusta National Golf Club course opens
* Founded by golfer Bobby Jones - Georgia

The sport's section (page 18) first report coverage on the opening of Augusta National Golf Club course, agreeably the most famous golf course in the country. The one column headings at the top of the page read: "'Perfect Course' Of Jones Opened" "Sweetser and Ouimet Among Golf Stars Who Praise Links at Augusta" "Celebrities On Hand" and more. (see) The article begins: "The 'perfect course' of Bobby Jones's dreams was opened today by more than a hundred of his friends..." with more (see). I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 30 pages, this is the "rag edition" printed on very high quality newsprint for long-term institutional use, very nice, clean condition.
