STARS & STRIPES, Southern France Edition, Aug. 7, 1945 The "Daily Newspaper of the U.S. Armed Forces" with a banner head: "Atomic Bomb Hits Japs" with subheads: "Yanks Drop New Super Missile; Equals 20,000 Dynamite Tons". This was the first of two atomic bomb drops, this one over Hiroshima. The articles carries over to the back page.
