THE WHEELING INTELLIGENCER, West Virginia, Nov. 2, 1889
* The Hatfields-McCoys feud
Two-thirds of the first column on the front page is taken up with nice coverage concerning the legendary Hatfield-McCoy feud at the border of Kentucky & West Virginia. Perhaps it is not surprising to find such lengthy content in a newspaper from West Virginia.
The top of the front page has one column heads: "THE HATFIELD-M'COYS" "A False Report About Another Fight Sent Out By" "Some West Virginia Fakir" "A Dizzy Story About More Bloodshed & the Necessity of Calling Out the Militia Denied by Reports from the Seat of War" (see).
The article focuses in a prior report of a fight between these two families which apparently never happened. The text is lengthy & very detailed and provides much interesting insight into the legendary feud between these two families (see for full report).
Complete in four pages, large folio size, very nice condition.
