EMANCIPATOR AND FREE AMERICAN, Boston, Massachusetts, Feb. 4, 1842
* Rare Anti-slavery title
* 19 years prior to Civil War
As the title would suggest, this is a newspaper focused on the anti-slavery movement although the content in this issue would seem to be mostly political. The ftpg. is taken up with: "Mr. Birney's Letter" and reports from the "Massachusetts Legislature". Page 2 has an illustrated ad supporting: "The Liberty Ticket--James G. Birney, for President..." with more (see images). Reports inside include: "Letter from Rev. C. T. Torrey" which relates to slavery (see for beginning); "New York Nominating Convention" "The State Convention" "Problems In Population" "Essex County Awake" and other items.
Four pages, some creases, nice condition.
