THE DETROIT NEWS TRIBUNE, January 7, 1912

* Photos of baseball players Ty Cobb, Joe Jackson, Chief Bender, Walter Johnson & Hal Chase

The front page of the "Sports" section has some very nice photographs of leading baseball players of the day, all under a two line banner headline: "Individual And Not The Team Helps The Box Office" and "Base Ball's Success Is Due To Sentiment" with subheads including: "Individual Stars of More Value to Club Than Championships" with more. The photos include Ty Cobb sliding head-first into a base; Joe Jackson, Hal Chase, Nap Lajoie, "Chief "Bender, and Walter Johnson.
As if this front page wasn't enough, page 3 of the sports section has a huge photo of Ty Cobb's head, under the banner headline: "Cobb, Not The Hardest Hitter Nor the Fastest Runner, Yet King of Ball Players" and the page also includes two very interesting & unusual graphics concerning his ball playing as well (see photos).
You get the complete 50+ page Sunday edition of this newspaper, not just the sports section. The issue is in quite nice condition, although somewhat irregular at the blank spine margin, partially loose at the spine, with some minor edge tears.
A very displayable baseball-themed newspaper!
