This was a decidedly Tory newspaper, supportive of the British efforts in America. This newspaper ended publication in June, 1778 when the British evacuated the city.
The front page has an ad for the desertion of two soldiers from military service, with details. Page 2 begins with a report noting: "General Lee writes from Purrysburg...that he is going to

INDEPENDENT CHRONICLE & UNIVERSAL ADVERTISER, Boston, Sept. 28, 1795  This issue features a nice, ornate masthead engraving.
Page 2 begins with a discussion on the controversial Jay's Treaty with England. Also: "Indian Negotiations", but the feature report is a letter signed in type by the President: G. Washington, headed: "Answer Of the President to the Chairman of the Norfolk Town Meeting Relative to the Treaty".

CLAY TRIBUNE, New York, Sept. 28, 1844

• Very rare presidential campaign publication
• Horace Greeley for candidate Henry Clay

A scarce campaign newspaper published by the famed Horace Greeley. It existed for just 27 issues from May 4 until just before the election, Nov. 2, 1844.
Horace Greeley was a supporter of Henry Clay in the presidential election of 1844, although he lost to James K. Polk. This is issue #22. Logically the issue is filled with political content.

HAMPSHIRE GAZETTE, Northampton, Mass., Sept. 28, 1831  Page 2 has a report; "Insurrection in North Carolina" datelines from Raleigh, concerning: "...an insurrection among the negroes...citizens of Fayetteville are also under arms. As to our city, every thing has been in a state of preparation for war..." and more.

Another ad is for a performance by Catherine Hayes at Tripler Hall, on her maiden tour of the United States. Later, in 1852 and 1853, she would be sponsored by P.T. Barnum. The Daily Express, London, has said: "Hayes was the 'Madonna' of her day; she was the 19th-century operatic equivalent of the world's most famous pop star."
