Background: The November 19, 1930, tornado disaster in Oklahoma remains one of the most tragic and meteorologically unusual late-fall severe weather events in the region's history. Classified as a violent F4 tornado, it cut a catastrophic path through eastern Bethany and nearby rural areas, causing 23 deaths and 150 injuries while destroying nearly a quarter of Bethany. The tragedy reached a heartbreaking climax northeast of Wiley Post Airport at the Camel Creek School, where the tornado completely obliterated the building, taking the lives of five young students and their teacher. Beyond the immense localized human and structural toll, the disaster stands out because violent, long-track F4 tornadoes are extraordinarily rare in Oklahoma during November, making this event a defining benchmark for late-season tornado outbreaks.
