Background: On April 11, 1931, Eliot Ness and his famed "Untouchables" executed a devastating raid on one of Al Capone's primary South Side Chicago breweries using a custom-built 10-ton armored battering ram to smash through the building's walls. By confiscating thousands of gallons of illegal beer and expensive brewing machinery, Ness's team directly crippled the Chicago Outfit's multi-million-dollar cash flow while generating intense public exposure, providing crucial evidence for thousands of Volstead Act violations that shattered Capone's criminal empire and set the stage for his federal conviction later that year.
