Background: On December 1, 1956, 21-year-old Floyd Patterson made boxing history at Chicago Stadium by delivering a stunning fifth-round knockout against 42-year-old light heavyweight champion Archie Moore, claiming the World Heavyweight Title left vacant by Rocky Marciano’s retirement. Taught by legendary trainer Cus D'Amato to master the swift, defensive "peek-a-boo" style, Patterson set an extraordinary rarity in sports history by becoming the youngest heavyweight champion in history at 21 years, 10 months, and 27 days old—an iconic record that stood unbroken for three decades until Mike Tyson surpassed it in 1986. This landmark triumph not only cemented Patterson's rapid rise from his 1952 Olympic middleweight gold medal performance in Helsinki to professional supremacy, but it also set the stage for him to later become the first fighter in boxing history to lose and subsequently regain the undisputed world heavyweight championship.
