Item # 730623 ·

THE PEOPLES VOICE, Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma OK, November 18, 1898

  • Rare Territorial issue with a graphic political cartoon
  • News regarding "Oklahoma and Indian Territory"

This is actually a "territorial" newspaper, as Oklahoma did not become a state until 1907, one of only 3 of the contiguous 48 to join the union in the 20th century (New Mexico & Arizona the other two).
The ftpg. has coverage of a bank robbery, the recent election, and others of local concern. The inside has a short story regarding the "North Pole (of holiday interest) a large political cartoon, and an update on additional local news headed: "Oklahoma and Indian Territory".

Complete as an 8 page newspaper filled with various news items of both local & national interest, as well as many advertisements.
An uncommon opportunity for a 19th century newspaper from what was they referred to as the Indian Territory.

Very lightly browned, a few  margin tears, mostly nice condition.
