1979 "Quiet Riot" live concerts advertisement...

Item # 729079 ·
LOS ANGELES TIMES, Aug. 12, 1979 (an original vintage newspaper leaf from the Calendar section)  This offering consists of four complete pages (two double-sided sheets on one single leaf) featuring a collectible print advertisement for a upcoming live performance by "QUIET RIOT" at the Whiskey Go Go on one of the four pages.
In addition to the feature concert ad, which captures the era's unique promotional graphic design and typography, the surrounding pages provide a fascinating cultural snapshot of late 20th-century entertainment. Printed on authentic aged newsprint with genuine vintage toning, this original leaf is not a modern reprint, making it an ideal candidate for custom framing, local history display, or inclusion in a dedicated rock or pop culture memorabilia collection.

Experience music history in the making with authentic, original newspaper advertisements capturing the opening-night premieres of legendary live concert performances, sourced straight from the entertainment capital of the world.

Background: On August 22 and 23, 1979, Quiet Riot headlined a historic two-night run at West Hollywood’s legendary Whisky a Go Go, marking one of the final live club performances by the band's original lineup—vocalist Kevin DuBrow, guitarist Randy Rhoads, bassist Rudy Sarzo, and drummer Drew Forsyth—just weeks before Rhoads auditioned for and joined Ozzy Osbourne in September 1979. Serving as a crucial snapshot of the late-1970s Sunset Strip glam and hard rock scene, the setlist featured high-energy tracks such as "Slick Black Cadillac," "Gonna Have A Riot," "Killer Girls," and "Laughing Gas," the latter providing the backdrop for Rhoads' famous extended guitar solo where he showcased the classical-influenced technique and finger-tapping that would soon define heavy metal guitar playing. Further cementing these shows in rock lore, they were among the earliest occasions where Rhoads regularly wielded his newly delivered, iconic black-and-white polka-dot Karl Sandoval custom Flying V guitar, capturing a transitional moment between L.A. club stardom and international music history.
