1980 opening day premiere of "The Fog" film advertisement...

Item # 728828 ·
LOS ANGELES TIMES, Jan. 27, 1980 (an original vintage newspaper leaf from the Calendar section)  This offering consists of four complete pages (two double-sided sheets on one single leaf), serving as a rare piece of cinematic ephemera, highlighted by an original vintage print advertisement announcing the opening day release of  THE FOG by John Carpenter one of the pages. (see images).

In addition to the featured movie ad, which captures the era's distinct theatrical promotional graphics and classic key art, the surrounding pages provide a fascinating snapshot of late 20th-century entertainment and pop culture. Printed on authentic newsprint with genuine vintage toning, this original leaf is not a modern reprint, making it an ideal piece for custom framing, film history display, or inclusion in a dedicated cinema memorabilia collection.

Own a rare slice of cinema history straight from the home of the entertainment industry

Background: John Carpenter’s 1980 supernatural horror film The Fog centers on the coastal northern California town of Antonio Bay as it prepares to celebrate its centennial anniversary, only to be terrorized by an eerie, glowing fog rolling in from the sea that harbors the vengeful ghosts of shipwrecked mariners killed 100 years earlier. On the eve of the festivities, local priest Father Malone uncovers a hidden journal written by his grandfather revealing that in 1880, six of the town’s founding fathers intentionally lured the Elizabeth Dane onto the treacherous rocks—drowning a wealthy leper colony led by a man named Blake—and stole their gold to found Antonio Bay. A century later, the glowing-eyed specters return from the deep wielding hooks and cutlasses to claim six lives in retribution for the betrayal, forcing a small cast of survivors—including late-night radio DJ Stevie Wayne broadcasting from her isolated lighthouse, hitchhiker Elizabeth Solley, local resident Nick Castle, and event organizer Kathy Williams—to fight for survival as the suffocating mist traps them within the town.
