The situation turned catastrophic around 7:00 PM when the band conducted a late soundcheck inside; mistaking the music for the start of the performance, the dense crowd surged toward a small fraction of open entrance doors, creating intense compressive pressure that led to asphyxiation and trampling. Unaware of the deaths unfolding outside, venue officials proceeded with the show to prevent further panic, only informing the band members after they left the stage.
