Background: The air in Addis Ababa on May 2, 1936, was thick with the acrid scent of smoke and the electric charge of impending doom as the imperial order buckled under the shadow of the Italian advance. Beneath a sky bruised by the haze of distant fires, the city dissolved into a chaotic kaleidoscope of desperation: frantic looters shattered storefronts, their arms overflowing with silks and spilled grain, while the rhythmic, metallic clatter of the Emperor’s departing train echoed like a fading heartbeat against the mountain slopes. Golden sunlight glinted off the discarded finery of the nobility, abandoned in the dust as thousands realized their "King of Kings" had slipped into the mist of exile. As the sun dipped low, casting long, jagged shadows across the deserted palace grounds, a heavy, suffocating silence began to swallow the screams, marking the precise, agonizing moment an ancient empire held its breath before the steel-toed boot of occupation finally fell.
