"Exodus 1947" Jewish refugees...

Item # 725743
September 10, 1947
WILKES-BARRE RECORD, Penn. September 10, 1947

* "Exodus 1947" Jewish refugees relocated to Germany
* 24 refuges hurt, 50 ringleaders are jailed
* Excursion steamer "Island Queen" disaster

The front page has a historic report regarding the arrival of the Jewish refuges from the Exodus 1947 vessel, which had been captured by the British outside of Palestine. In a tragic twist of fate, the displaced refugees were relocated to Germany. The one column heading reads: "Jews Fight to Remain Aboard Refugee Ship" with subheads.
Wikipedia states: "The treatment of the refugees at the camps caused an international outcry after it was claimed that the conditions could be likened to German concentration camps."
The front page also has three column heading: "Huge Excursion Steamer Blows Up at Pittsburgh, 21 Killed, 17 Injured" with subheads. (see images)
Complete with all 28 pages, light toning and minor wear at the margins, some small binding holes along the spine, generally nice.
