Washington on Brandywine, Leger at Fort Stanwix, Burgoyne near Saratoga...

Item # 717048 ·

THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, Nov. 4, 1777  Simply a terrific wealth of content on the Revolutionary War.
Page 2 begins with a fine letter from General Howe to Lord G. Germaine concerning events near the Chesapeake Bay. This is followed by a: "DECLARATION" signed in type: W. Howe, in which he offers pardon to all soldiers who left their ranks to join the American forces if they return to their allegiance to the King.
Then another letter from Howe to Germain with good content, and then a great & lengthy letter signed by: J. Burgoyne, dated at camp near Saratoga dated Aug. 20, 1777. Terrific reading!
And then a nice letter "...from Lt. Col. St. Leger to Lt. General Burgoyne, brought thru' the woods by an Indian, dated before Fort Stanwix, August 11, 1777."
This was a notable battle during which American forces were ambushed by a combined force of Loyalists and Mohawk Indians.
Page 3 has a letter signed in type: G. Washington, written to Congress concerning his efforts at the Battle of Brandywine.
More fine content on the back page as well, bits shown in the photos. Just too much great content to detail here. Photos will show portions.
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, very nice condition.
