Land dispute settled between Pennsylvania & Connecticut...
PENNSYLVANIA PACKET & DAILY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, July 3, 1786 Page 3 has a report noting in part: "...from Connecticut that the Susquehanna Company are perfectly satisfied with the late donation of Congress of a tract of land to the westward of Pennsylvania, in lieu of their claims to the lands at Wyoming, and that the conduct of that incendiary Ethan Allen is severely condemned by them...".
In 1786, Connecticut ceded its claims to land in the Wyoming Valley (part of Pennsylvania) to the United States, specifically to the Confederation Congress, in exchange for the Western Reserve. This agreement resolved a long-standing territorial dispute between Connecticut and Pennsylvania, largely driven by the Susquehanna Company, a Connecticut-based land speculation company.
