DAILY NEWS, New York, Oct. 1, 1956  A notable issue from when the Brooklyn Dodgers secured a place in the World Series against cross-town rivals the Yankees.
A great headline: "IT'S 'BUMS' VS. YANKS" and subhead: "Brooklyn Sure Series in Bag". A terrific photo of a Brooklyn fan takes half of the front page.
Although not the complete issue, among the 24 present are pages 3, the doublepage centerfold, and 48 which all have reports on the game with the centerfold filled with photos. Included is a reprint of the Oct. 5, 1955 front page of the Daily News with the famous "Who's A Bum!" headline when the Dodgers beat the Yankees in the World Series.
They would not be so fortunate in 1956. The Dodgers would lose the Series to the Yankees, with Don Larsen's perfect game happening in game 5.
Contains 24 of 56 pages, tabloid-size, nice condition.
