THE WEEKLY MAGAZINE OR EDINBURGH AMUSEMENT, Scotland, Feb. 15, 1776  There are 2 1/2 pages taken up with: "A Letter from an Officer Retired to his Son in Parliament which begins: "This letter is on the subject of the present unhappy disputes between Great Britain and her American colonies...his sentiments on the measures adopted by government to reduce the colonists to obedience..." with much on this.
Some nice reading under the heading: "America" with reports from Charleston and North Carolina, some bits noting: "...The minute men are to be trained every day...the uniform is a hunting shirt, leggings or spatterdashes with garters..." with more. Also: "...That we do absolutely believe that neither the parliament of Great Britain...have a right to impose taxes on these colonies...and that all attempts...to establish & exercise such claims...are violations of peace & security of the people & ought to be resisted to the utmost...".
Further on are reports from Newport and two from Williamsburg, the latter referencing the Gunpowder Incident noting: "Our most implacable enemy, Lord Dunmore, to his great grief...has been obliged to retire to the shipping...".
There are also several reports from Norfolk as seen in the photos, then a letter from the camp before Quebec, followed by several reports from the South.
Complete in 32 pages, disbound, 5 by 8 inches, very nice condition.
