NEW YORK HERALD, May 17, 1865  The front page is entirely taken up with reports on the trial of those who conspired to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln.
Some of the column heads include: "THE TRIAL" "Sanders Shown to Have Been Intimate with Booth" "Complicity of Spangler, the Stage Carpenter, in Booth's Scheme" "He is Overheard Promising to Assist Booth All He Could on the Night of the Assassination" "Further Evidence Implicating Dr. Mudd" and much more.
The considerable testimony continues to take the entirety of page 5 as well.
Page 4 has some nice heads on the closing events of the Civil War including: "The Carolinas" "Additional Particulars in Relation to the Flight of Jeff. Davis" "He Orders Kirby Smith Not to Surrender" "Reported Pursuit by Cavalry of Governor Magrath of South Carolina" and more.
Eight pages, good condition.
