The back page has a lengthy editorial beginning: "There is no doubt that a large proportion of the present demand for gold is for the purpose of hoarding, and proceeds from a distrust of the Confederate money...". Also: "From the West--Northern Opinions of the War--The Prospect--Vallandigham Sent South...Demand for the War to Be Stopped" and other war-related items.
