Death of John Adams would seem to be a last-minute entry in this issue...
Item # 715940
July 10, 1826
BELLOW FALLS INTELLIGENCER, Vermont, July 10, 1826 What the publisher seemingly planned as a typical newspaper of the day proved to be otherwise, with the apparent very late arrival of significant news, warranting a quick entry on page 3 headed: "Death Of John Adams" and reading: "It is our painful duty to announce to our readers the death of this venerable Patriot. He died at his seat at Quincy, Mass. on the afternoon of the 4th last, about 3 o'clock."
Presented without detail on the circumstances, or notes on his life, plus without the typical black, mourning rules border, suggests this report arrived at the printing office just before ink was put to paper. Certainly, the next day's issue would have more detail & was likely & appropriately decorated in black mourning rules.
Four pages, very nice condition.
