NEW YORK WORLD TELEGRAM, June 15, 1942

* Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bomber
* United States Navy new military aircraft
* Debuted at the Battle of Midway in same month

The front page has a four column photo with heading: "New U. S. Torpedo Plane Called World's Deadliest" with subhead. (see images) This was when this torpedo bomber was announced to the public. It made it's combat debut at the Battle of Midway earlier in the month.
Complete with 22 pages, light toning at the margins, a little spine wear, generally in good condition.

wikipedia notes: The Avenger entered U.S. service in 1942, and first saw action during the Battle of Midway. Despite the loss of five of the six Avengers on its combat debut, it survived in service to become the most effective submarine killer and most widely-used torpedo bomber of World War II, sharing credit for sinking the super-battleships Yamato and Musashi and being credited for sinking 30 submarines
