EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Oct. 11, 1777  Nearly half of page 2 is taken up with reports from the Revolutionary War, a few bits of which include: "...that Gen. Howe had landed the 16th at Baltimore & proceeded to...40 miles from Philadelphia where General Washington's army was encamped...that General Clinton was setting out on an expedition supposed for North River...the rebel general Sullivan had landed on Staten Island & retreated next morning with the loss of 900 men...another landing had been made at Huntington in Long Island where the rebels were also repulsed...". Much more good reading, too much to mention here.
Page 2 also has a letter from Saratoga which begins: "You will no doubt have heard of our retreat from Ticonderoga before this reaches you; but the horrid barbarity of our cruel enemies in the pursuit is what you can have no idea of..." with more on this.
