Death of the Commander-in-Chief in a military newspaper...
THE STARS & STRIPES--EXTRA, Germany Edition, April 13, 1945 What newspaper would be better to have the death report of the commander-in-chief than the official newspaper of the U.S. armed forces? The large and bold headline announces: "ROOSEVELT DEAD" with subhead: "Dies Suddenly of Stroke; Truman Is New President" with photos of both. And great to have in the "Germany Edition" where the war was still very much in progress.
Four pages and in very nice condition.
