Item # 712683 ·
THE NEW YORK TIMES, Nov. 30, 1956

Milt Campbell takes strong lead in the Decathalon
* Melbourne, Australia Olympics
* Would win gold the following day - 1st black man to do so

Page 27 has a nice two-line, two-column heading: "Campbell Takes Hurdles to Lift Decathalon Lead to 525 Points", followed by details. This lead would be insurmountable as he would win the Gold Medal the following day - becoming the 1st black man to ever take gold in this event. Additional Olympic coverage is also present.
Other news of the day with period advertising is found throughout.
Complete in 42 pages. The page and section where the Milt Campbell coverage is found is in nice condition, but the front page has some damage. Priced with condition in mind. See images for details.
