NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, April 21, 1821 Articles inside include: "Savage Patriotism" "Tales of Horror" and an interesting item headed: "The Slave Trade" which includes an account reading in part: "...the state in which these unfortunate creatures were found is shocking to every principle of humanity;--17 men shackled toge ether in pairs by the legs, and 20 boys, one on the other, in the main hold...The space allowed for the females, 34 in number, was even more contracted than that for the men..." with much more.
