NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, April 24, 1830  The front page has a report about the dinner in Washington to celebrate the birthday of Thomas Jefferson. Among the various toasts that were offered is a now famous one by President Andrew Jackson: "Our federal union: it must be preserved." And an equally famous reply by the Vice President, John C. Calhoun: "The union; next to our liberty the most dear; may we all remember that it can only be preserved by respecting the rights of the states...".
Great to have these famous quotes on the front page.
Among other reports in this issue are: "General Bolivar and Mr. Clay" which includes letters signed by both: Bolivar, and H. Clay; two letters signed by Andrew Jackson.
Complete in 24 pages, 6 by 9 1/4 inches,  very nice condition.
