Perhaps the best stacked of headlines we have seen...

Item # 711345 ·

DAILY EVENING TRAVELLER, Boston, April 10, 1865  This historic issue has, perhaps, the most dramatic, single-column stack of headlines we have seen in any newspaper!
In announcing the surrender of Robert E. Lee, and ostensibly the end of the Civil War, a middle column has a stack of heads that is 18 inches in length, including 3 patriotic emblems amongst: "EXTRA" "HURRAH!" "HURRAH" "HURRAH' "Surrender of Gen. Lee and His WHOLE ARMY!" "The Terms of the Surrender" "Rebel Officers & Men to Return to Their Homes" with more.
Nice column heads on pages 2 & 3 as well, with a lengthy editorial headed: "The Surrender of Gen. Lee", then: "THE PUBLIC JOY - REJOICING Over the Glorious News" "The Pursuit of Lee's Army" [an earlier report], plus: "The Great Rejoicing" and more.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, large folio size, very nice condition. A great issue for display. Folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
