NEW YORK HERALD, Feb. 23, 1862  An uncommonly graphic front page as the first column headlines are capped with an image of an eagle on the U.S. shield with flags, and the bottom of the heads features a print of the U.S. flag.
The first column heads concern the patriotic fervor in the city during the anniversary of Washington's birthday.
