On the funeral of George Washington...
THOMAS'S MASSACHUSETTS SPY OR WORCESTER GAZETTE, Jan. 22, 1800 A newspaper from just over a month since the death of George Washington, with page 2 having a report from Mass. concerning a monument to Washington, and a report beginning: "General Washington has left Mount Vernon and all his papers to Judge Washington. His negroes are to be free after the death of Mrs. Washington who during her life retained possession of the whole estate..." with more. And a New York report noting: "As many persons cannot be accommodated with seats at St. Paul's immediately after the procession an Eulogium on the character of the late General Washington will be delivered in the old Presbyterian Church...".
Page 3 has: "Gen. Washington has willed all his own negroes free, the number of which is one hundred and thirty; the remainder on the estate belong to his wife..." with more on this. Plus, there is much concerning funeral rights to Washington, with much detail. The back page has a poem to Washington.
