NEW YORK TIMES, Jan. 23, 1860  Page 3 has over two columns dedicated to: "THE CASE OF PATRICK MAUDE",with subhead: "History of Patrick Maude, Recently Executed at Newark for Murder".
The article tells of his life, his decision to represent himself in court, his attempt to be found not guilty by reason of insanity, his conviction, and his execution.  The National Institute of Health later did a review of his case.
The front page has: "The Inquest At Lawrence - Conbtributions For the Surviving Families" "The Lawrence Catastrophe and the Death of Macaulay".
This is the on the tragic collapse of the Pemberton Mill in Lawrence. The five-story mill, built in 1853, employed nearly 800 textile workers and was one of the largest and newest mills in Lawrence. The collapse, which also involved a fire, resulted in the deaths of approximately 145 workers and injured many more, making it one of the deadliest industrial disasters in U.S. history.
Eight pages, slightly irregular at the spine from disbinding, occasional minor print-creases, in nice condition.
