Outlaw Sam Perris escapes from the local jail...

Item # 702872 ·
WORCESTER EVENING GAZETTE, Massachusetts, April 6, 1872

* Samuel 'Worcester Sam' Perris
* burglar, safe cracker and bank robber
* Jail escape - best title to have

Page 2 has a half column article headed: "Local Matters" "A DARING ESCAPE" "Sam Perris at Liberty" "How He Broke Jail". This is the notorious bank robbery 'Worcester' Sam Perris, who was called one of the most notorious criminals in America. It is said Perris participated in nearly every major bank robbery in the United States during a 20-year period. Being a "local" criminal, breaking out of the Worcester jail, terrific to have this report in a Worcester newspaper.
