* Cession of Florida from Spain to United States

Over half of page 2 is taken up with what is known as the Adams-Onis Treaty, signed in Washington on February 22, 1819. By this treaty Spain ceded East Florida to the United States & renounced any claims to West Florida. The U.S. renounced its claims to Texas. Also the boundary between the U.S. and Spanish territories is set. The Senate would ratify the treaty on Feb. 25, and then again on Feb. 22, 1821, after Spanish delays.
