President Jackson's farewell address... War news...

Item # 702191 ·
THE CRISIS, Columbus, Ohio, April 25, 1861  This was an anti-war newspaper that insisted slavery should not be abolished, so consequently, much content has an anti-North bias.
Among the interesting articles are: "Negro Insurrection" "Order & Drill in Camp Jackson" "President Jackson's Farewell Address to the People of the United States" is signed in type: Andrew Jackson and takes 1 1/2 pages; "War News!" "Organization & Parts of the Army" and much more.
Eight pages, very nice condition.

Described as "The Hottest Rebel Sheet to be found in the North or the South", this newspaper opposed the war and attracted the hatred of the Republicans and the Lincoln administration. It was denied circulation in some cities. In 1863 the press was raided by a hateful mob.
