THE AMERICAN SOLDIER, Manila, Philippine Islands, Oct. 1, 1898  This was the first American newspaper in Manila. A quite scarce title, plus this is the volume 1, number 4 issue.
As the title would suggest it was published during the Spanish-American War for American soldiers. The content is almost entirely military-themed, with a great wealth of ads as well.
Six pages, loss at the right margin does cause some text loss to pages 1, 2, 3 and 4, never bound nor trimmed.
