The first issue published: how long did it exist?

Item # 701250 ·
THE CAMP JOURNAL, Lewistown, Pennsylvania, April, 1877

* Rare United States military publication

This title is not listed in Gregory's "Union List of Newspapers", nor can we find information elsewhere. This is the volume 1, number 1 issue, so it is unknown how long this newspaper lasted.
In the "Salutatory" on page 4 they note: "...The Camp Journal will advocate the wide-awake principles of the Patriot Order Sons of America, vis: Opposition to the union of Church and State, in favor of free education, and the protection & maintenance of the constitution and laws of our country...".
Eight pages, various margin tears, some archival repairs at the spine, some dirtiness, ornate masthead.

background: The Camp Journal was a historic newspaper associated with Lewistown, likely published for a specific purpose such as a local military camp or special event, and is no longer in circulation. Limited information is available online, suggesting it was a short-lived or niche publication.
